This house is filled with stories passed down through generations. Originally built by the father, it was later entrusted to his son, who grew up within its walls.
Because the father personally designed and constructed the home, it holds countless cherished memories for the family. As the son started his own family
and became a father himself, he began to consider renovating the house—creating spaces better suited to modern living while preserving
the nostalgic essence of the original home.
The property sits on a large plot of land, its rear side adjoining a natural canal and surrounded by lush greenery. With such a setting, the homeowner placed
great importance on views and sightlines. The original house was a two-story structure with a concrete frame, while the second floor featured a wooden structure.
The attic, built with precast concrete panels, served as a storage area.
One of the owner’s main requests was a double-height living room. To achieve this, the designer removed part of the roof to increase ceiling height and
reorganized the circulation routes, including the staircase. The new living room now opens to expansive views of the west and south gardens.
On the west, slatted panels filter sunlight to reduce glare, while on the south, a balcony provides a view of the garden and swimming pool.
The ground floor centers around the dining room, expanded to create the feeling of dining in the middle of a garden, with panoramic views on all sides.
On pleasant days, the glass panels can be fully opened to transform the space into an open-air pavilion. On less favorable days, they can be closed,
with air conditioning for comfort. On another side of the house, a study opens to views of the swimming pool, canal, and surrounding landscape.
The parents’ bedroom, originally upstairs, was relocated to the ground floor for greater accessibility as they age. Positioned at the rear of the house,
it offers peace and privacy with views of the backyard garden.
The second floor now contains the master bedroom and children’s bedroom, connected to a pantry and the double-height living room.
The design emphasizes privacy, with the homeowner using the living room as their central gathering space, while the parents prefer the dining area
for daily activities. On the third floor, part of the former attic was converted into a prayer room, wardrobe, and additional storage.
The poolside pavilion, once used for the pump system and a small gazebo, was redesigned into a gym and multifunctional room for a variety of activities.
These spaces overlook the garden and canal beyond. The swimming pool itself was reshaped to harmonize with the new architectural style.
Throughout the renovation, the designer’s priority was to preserve the essence of the original home, which the father had built. By carefully adapting materials,
window sizes, and architectural forms, the project balances evolution with continuity—honoring the past while preparing the house for the next generation.
